April SOTM: 12" × 12" Cloud Nine Page

Helpful Hints

To create the techniques featured in this artwork, follow the helpful hints outlined below. Then use the Reflections: Quartet—Condensed™ pattern found on page 111 of our how-to publication for inspiration.

  • Cut the following Cricut® Artiste shapes using papers of choice, if desired:
    • 1 1/2" Accent 4 <3> (p. 33)
    • 1/2" Shift+Accent 1 <N> (cut 3, p. 66)
    • 2 3/4" Accent1 <HppyBday> (cut 2, p. 70)
    • 1", 1/2", and 3/4" Accent 2 <HppyBday> (p. 70)
      • To cut clouds and have the reverse effect inside the frame on the page, place 7 3/4" × 7 3/4" White Daisy cardstock on mat; load into machine and program machine to cut cloud in this size order, making sure to not remove the paper between each cut: 1", 1/2", and 3/4"; remove shapes from square; keep shapes and square with reverse images for page.
    • 3 1/2" Shift+Accent 2 <YearsOld> (p. 70)
    • 1" <font> “CLOUD NINE”
      • To create the reverse images of the letters, place strip of paper on mat and cut letters in order of title of choice, not in order of alphabet or where the letters appear on the keypad. For example, enter the letters in the machine as follows “CLOUD NINE” instead of “CDEILNNOU.”
  • To create Cranberry stamped border along lower portion of page, stamp bird feathers image 10 times on White Daisy cardstock so that the two middle scallops link together. Trim along scalloped edge. (Note: You will be stamping each end scallop over one another, but it won’t show once you attach it to the page and cover it with an accent piece of paper.)
  • To create the look that the clouds inside the frame are floating, first attach the open Desert Sand square over the White Daisy square then attach to page with 3-D foam tape.
  • Embellish with paper accents and accessories, adding dimension with 3-D foam tape as desired.
